Twitter and the new Assassin's Creed

I know, the title is... awkward to say the least. The post will be short. Let us say I am trying to adapt to the Twitter format. (I HATE IT) Yes, that needs Caps. I made a twitter account. I do not really know why, a friend suggested, said Riot was giving away free Garen skin. I said sure, it cannot hurt. When I made the account I asked him which skin, and was immediately disappointed. Dreadknight. Ugly. Emo. So Not Garen. I lost interest in skin, but still had twitter account, so why not try and make some use of it while it is there.

I find myself hating Twitter and its limit of 140 characters. It might be exaggeration, but I feel as it will be the end of me. I am too verbose in thoughts by nature, I do not talk much, but I do think much more. So when I have to limit my thought on a mere 140 characters, it is demanding. But I guess there is no point complaining about the format, it was not forced upon me, I came to Twitter by my own volition. Thus I get to follow their rules. Gahh, I still hate it though.

The username, for those interested is @Astalnar

Intro to Hearthstone Mechanics

You have just beaten the tutorial, got some free packs of cards, there is sun outside and the day could not be any better. Then you decide to go and try one game against other players, not ranked. You know you do not have enough experience for ranked, but it surely won't hurt if you give casual a try. Is it not so?

And then you crawl out from the game, all bloody, beaten, your spirit broken. You ask yourself what did I do wrong, where did the game went awry? What could I do better? Or, if you are more on the touchy side, you blame it on the game and how it is a total pay-to-win. Whatever that means.

Expectations and Warlords of Draenor

Preorders are now available, you can preorder the next expansion for World of Warcraft and enjoy the free boost to level 90 you get with it. With more and more information about the expansion becoming available I noticed my dislike for it. Thus I decided to closely reexamine everything we know about Warlords of Draenor in comparison to the previous expansions.

There are quite some things that bother me with Warlords of Draenor, for now, I will leave the story and the theme of the expansion alone because I believe I cannot just say I do not like the expansion because the story sounds more ludicrous than usually. I do dislike the notion that just because the Old Horde was really cool we need to see it with our own eyes.

Evolution of Garrosh

Garrosh, son of Grom Hellscream, proud warchief of the Horde. And now, a prisoner awaiting his trial. Garrosh was always a character people had strong feelings about. Especially those of us who played Horde. Alliance, I take by default hates all the Horde, so they do not count. But Garrosh was not despised only by the Alliance playerbase. Hell, I play Horde, and I thought he was just a whiny grunt who did not know where his place is.

We first met Garrosh crying in Nagrand. By some weird coincidence the greatest ninny of all times was in charge of the Horde village called Garadar. Just our luck. As the crybaby Garrosh was far from capable of doing anything of worth, we ended up cleaning most of the mess that appeared during our stay in Nagrand. We also met Saurfang the Younger, son of the legendary High Warlord Saurfang. Unlike Garrosh, Saurfang did at least stand on his own and showed a potential to surpass his old man.

TESO Beta: Final Impression

Unfortunately I could not get TESO to run this week. I blame the stubbornness on my and TESO's part. We tried but it just did not work out. After downloading the newest patch, somehow it needs another 60GB of free space. After the initial installation demanded 60GB already. That is just too much. You are probably asking how can I present my impressions if I had not played the game.

It is a fair question. Considering I played it before, it will consist mostly of my past experiences with the game. I will talk about what left most impact on me, and how  I feel about it. This will be in a sense list of thoughts that were worth enough to be recalled. Let us start then.

Hearthstone Out, Heroes of the Storm in Alpha

Ah Blizzard, at times I think they do it on purpose. Releasing everything of interest all in the same week. This week, Hearthstone was officially launched, and is now a released game, no longer in beta. Heroes of the Storm, a new MOBA in making (I think Blizzard prefers Hero Brawler), had a lot of new information about leveling, hero rotation and skins, you can get a mount for World of Warcraft playing Hearthstone, and probably something I missed, and thus consider not important enough to retell.

So let us start at the beginning. Hearthstone is now finally out. What does that mean? Well, anyone wishing to play the game can do so. You will have to first defeat the tutorial, which is well made and entertaining. It should learn you the basics of the game. Of course it does help if you played any other trading card game as some of the mechanics are similar, thus it will make it easier for you. When you are done with tutorial after totally and really not fair fight, and you should totally blame the developers, you can try unlocking the rest of the decks.

Gnome Grows Epic Moustache in a Matter of Seconds

A new trailer was released promoting the new payable boost to level 90. I will just say that at the price of 60$ it is overpriced all the way to high Heaven. I will use my free boost that comes with purchase of Warlords of Draenor, but I am will not be buying anything from the store. I will even level up my warrior to level 60 before I use my boost on him. I want that veteran bonus that will level up my professions for me. I figure that I can put up with a day or two of tanking through the dungeons in exchange for leveled up professions.

But more importantly than the greed oozing from the in-game store in World of Warcraft I want to say I am impressed by the range of the animations of the gnome in the trailer. It is exciting to think that soon all our characters will have that range of fluidity and expression to them. It is the little things after all. More than that, the new models will/might/should/could reinvigorate the World of Warcraft machinima scene.

Purpose of High Elves

What is a difference between a traitor and dissident? In eyes of the Blood Elves, there is none. There is a reason for that. What separates the High and Blood Elves is not the colour of their eyes, but their name. They are one and the same.  There is a extensive amount of history and tragedy involved when it comes to the descendants of the Highborne.

It all started a long time ago, when Night Elves were still considered a common plebs, and Highborne were the masters of arcane. Something their direct descendants, the Blood Elves still remain. But in order not to prolong things any more than it needs to be, I will start with the last schism that occurred among the elves.

TESO Beta: Round Two

This week was another beta weekend for the Elder Scrolls Online. You can read part one of my thoughts about the game here. Instead of tinkering about how to proceed, I decided to just continue where I stopped with my High Elf Templar. Questing around Auridon and helping the queen against all the usurpants that seem to forgetting their place. I come to think the new queen is too soft on those rebelling wretches, but her word is the law. At least as long as I successfully repel all the assassination attempts on her.

Before I go on, I would like to say a few words about the plate armour. This is a problem that is in many ways specific to plate, but seems to be ignored in most of the games, let alone in an MMO. You see, unlike cloth, leather, and even chainmail, plate armour is a different sort of beast. While yes, it is crafted to fit an individual, it is more like wearing a turtle's shell, then a sweater. In essence plate armour does not fit you, you fit the plate armour.

Hearthstone: Alternate card backs

Alternative card backs are coming to Hearthstone. There are five of them for now, my favourite being the red and gold combination. You can read the original source, and preview all the card backs here yourself.

The brown card with iron-looking frame will be reward for reaching Legend Rank. My personal favourite, red and gold will be earned by participating in ranked games, which I think is great, because it means I will soon have my favourite card back available. The yellow, amber-like card back will be a reward from promotional events. The last two, clouds and rainbows, and green-coloured glass are some sort of upcoming reward. More details to come.
